Aloha Friday: I crave..

Kailani says "In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response."

So my question is:

Do you suffer with Pica? If so what do you/did you crave?

I used to eat soap for the longest while. Not drink it, but the bars I'd crave. I had to take a nip/bite if a bar of soap was around. It tasted really good to be honest. I never knew why I did this. However when I got married and dh learn about this little detail of me, he asked me to stop. I did, for five years, but now I'm craving it so badly again. I don't use bar soap for that very reason, but I put out a bar (I won a couple bars) when my sister in law visited with us last week and now I'm trying so hard to use it up because I'm craving it so badly. I've already taken a few nips!

I've only read about Pica as a student. I'm sure it can be trying to overcome at times.

No, I know a lot of women get it when they are pregnant, but I have never experienced it. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to be having a craving like that.

I don't really know anything about PICA. I have never had the desire to eat anything out of the ordinary.

No cravings for anything inedible. I try to avoid soap, paper, chalk, clay, etc. I'm sure as a kid I ate sand. I did know one kid back in elementary that ate the cupcake holder and napkins at birthday parties. Have a great weekend and take care.

I never suffered from pica either or really any cravings while pregnant. Did you ever talk to a doctor about it? Supposedly it's a sign of a lack of a nutrient but I can't imagine what kind of nutrient is in soap.

I understand it has something to do with a dietary deficiency. Have you ever mentioned this to your doctor? Might be a vital mineral you are missing or not able to metabolize correctly. I would definitely get it checked out!

Haven't experienced it personally, but I knew of a woman who ate dirt while pregnant because of it.

O dang I 4 got all about about this today
Haven't experienced that
Bet you had the cleanest mouth in town :)

Do you get stomach aches?

Wow. I suppose then the whole 'washing your mouth out with soap' thing wouldn't have worked on you? ;-) Like others, I haven't experienced pica before.
